Daily Highlights

Relatively quiet at Reddie Point this morning but two Bank Swallows(#236) flow over. Bank Swallow is also a new county bird(#264) for me. - September 28, 2014

Not very many warblers at Theodore Roosevelt this morning, but found rare Blue-winged Warbler, saw or heard least 7 Ovenbirds and one Black-throated Blue. - September 26, 2014

Rare Wilson's Warbler(#235) at Reddie Point. New county bird(#263) for me . Also 2 Baltimore Oriols, 3 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Black-throated Blue Warblers. See eBird checklist for photos. - September 24, 2014

Today's highlight was Blue-winged Warbler(#233) along with five Baltimore Oriols(#234), four Red-headed Woodpeckers and Merlin. All together 46 species at Reddie Point, although not very many warblers. Next week or two we should get them all. - September 21, 2014

Theodore Roosevelt Area had some good birds: Ovenbird(3), Worm-eating Warbler(2), Prothonatary, Yellow-billed Cuckoo(2) and lots of Redstarts. Marsh Wrens(2) were singing at marsh area; flagged by ebird, little early for them. - September 19, 2014

Less birds at Reddie Point this morning, but highlights were season's first Palm Warbler, female Black-throated Blue and three Blue Grosbeaks. - September 18, 2014

I had at Theodore Roosevelt Area later at night Acadian Flycatcher and three Ovenbirds. - September 17, 2014

Reddie Point was active this morning after rain. Common Yellowthroats were everywhere. There were Prothonatary Warbler, Ovenbird, Painted Bunting. Others saw also 3 Magnolia Warblers and a Baltimore Oriole. - September 17, 2014

Change of wheather brought more warblers in. I had at Theodore Roosevelt area 9 warbler species: Ovenbird, Prothanotory Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, lots of Redstarts. Also one Yellow-billed Cuckoo. - September 16, 2014

Ovenbirds starting to show up more often. I had one at Blue Cyprus Park trail this morning and another one couple of days ago at Reddie Point. - September 12, 2014

Red-headed Woodpeckers migrating through Reddie Point again like last year. We had two of them at parking lot this morning. - September 11, 2014

Ten species of warblers at Theodore Roosevelt area this morning: Black-throated Blue, Tennessee Warbler(#230), 4 Prothonotaries, 2 Worm-eating, Ovenbird, Black-and-White, Redstarts, Prairie Warbler, Northern Parulas and Yellow-throated Warbler. Also Eastern Wood Pewee(#229)- September 7, 2014

I saw my first Black-throated Blue Warbler (female) for this season among with six species of warblers at Hanna Park this morning. - September 6, 2014

Cliff Swallows(#224) today - August 11, 2014 at Huguenot Park chasing bugs over the dunes with Barn Swallows. Iceland Gull continues at the north end of park. UPDATE: Iceland Gull was found dead today - August 16, cause of death unknown.
